What is UV Resin ?

It is a fast curing epoxy resin, which has other advantages of excellent transparency and high hardness (D85 Shore).

Its hardening does not take place with heat, air or hardener, but only with ultra violet light

It is therefore a single-component epoxy resin delivered in a dropper bottle. It has a slight odor in the liquid state, which disappears completely after drying.

No evaporation, almost no retraction occurs between the liquid state and the solid state.

What is Ultra Violet Light ?

Ultraviolet is radiation that is part of light. They extend between a wavelength of 250 and 400 nm, from invisible to visible.

There are two types of lamps : approximately 365 nm, and approximately 395 nm. We recommend our 365 nm UV lamps.

How to cure epoxy resin ?

UV epoxy resin is sensitive to UV light. Within seconds, the resin solidifies. It then takes on the appearance of a hard and transparent plastic like glass.

This curing occurs in 30 seconds when the epoxy resin is exposed to the sun, or to a UV lamp.

Important note : It is advisable not to dry too quickly, to avoid shrinkage, sagging, or hollow bubbles. Hold the lamp at a distance of 20-25 cm for 15 seconds to 30 seconds.

What type of UV resin to choose ?

UV epoxy resin is often used as a glue (in electronics or in artistic fields) because it sticks almost everywhere (ceramics, glass, metal, stone, plastics).

This resin can be used as a casting gel, mold or filler for crafting jewelry, or even custom fishing tackle.

It can also be used as a clearcoat.

To make large castings, moldings, river tables, with thicknesses of 5 mm, 1 cm, 2 cm, we rather use a fast epoxy resin with hardener. We can even increase in thickness up to 10 cm with our slow type WWA epoxy resin.

What resin to take to make jewelry ?

The UV Led resin is perfect for small surfaces, in thickness up to 10 mm. It makes it possible to make inclusions, with various materials, or phosphorescent pigments, mother-of-pearl, translucent dyes, and to capture the shape instantly.

It can be painted easily, or varnished, when freshly dried, or after light sanding.

It is not very allergenic for the skin.

What does UV resin look like ?

Liquid or hardened, it is transparent like crystal. Its surface is shiny.
