Our Lexan Adhesion Primer
is specifically designed for polycarbonate RC bodies (the public name for Lexan)
A adhesion primer is used to chemically bond a difficult substrate to a surface, such as polycarbonate, where preparatory sanding techniques cannot guarantee adhesion. In the case of an RC model, the product is applied as a first step, inside the shell, before the application of colors.
For a guaranteed grip
In addition, the fairings of radio-controlled racing machines are particularly subject to extreme conditions of impact, heat, torsion, etc. Also, when painting, especially masking, with scalpel cutting and the application and removal of adhesive masking, it is common to see whole sections of paint peeling off. For this reason, without a good Lexan adhesion primer, peeling is unfortunately unavoidable. It also works on a variety of other plastic materials
Specification :
The primer for LEXAN is a ready-to-use liquid, acrylic, solvent-free, totally transparent, and compatible with all paints.
Directions for use on LEXAN :
The preparation of the interior of the Lexan hull consists of degreasing (with Hikari degreaser) and then using an abrasive sponge of grey color (it can be noted that the Lexan primer of Hikari allows a completely undetachable adhesion, even without sanding.)
The application of a product can be done in one coat. Painting a micro coat beforehand reinforces the adhesion. It is useless, and even harmful for the good adhesion, to multiply the coats and to increase the thickness. The covering can be done within 24 to 72 hours without sanding, by allowing the cohesion of the paint. Beyond that, sanding is recommended.
