Versions

The paints in the Stardust Pro WPU range benefit from all the new discoveries and innovations in the field of acrylic paints. They are professional quality paints, odorless, high performance and easy to use.

They are also the first airbrush paints based on polyurethane acrylic resin.

This formula gives them a number of qualities and advantages over competing conventional airbrush paints.

  • excellent adhesion power on many types of surface
  • very high resistance to all wear factors such as weather, abrasion or chemicals and detergents
  • total resistance to UV rays and long life

Fineness and coverage :

Stardust Pro WPU paints are primarily Artistic colors that are developed according to the specific needs of painters and airbrush artists.

  • extreme finesse and great fluidity, allowing use in all airbrush nozzles ready to use
  • high covering power, thanks to a high pigment load

Application support :

canvas, wood, cardboard, resin, some metals and plastics, all types of paint

Blend :

Stardust Pro WPU paints are very thinned and therefore ready to use

It is always possible to dilute them with water or their Coalescent S6 thinner.

Mixable colors with each other

For mixing colors, we always recommend using pure colors (see our color index series) as these always give better results, compared to mixing secondary colors together.

Color Index Kit 14 Colors :

White (PW6), Yellow Ocher (PY42), Red Ocher (PR101), Black (PBK7), Primary Blue (PB15-3), Ultramarine Blue (PB29), Violet (PV23), Magenta (PR122), Bright Red (PR112) ), Pure Yellow (PY74), Emerald Green (PG7), Naphthol Carmine (PR170), Chrome Green Oxide (PG17), Quinacridone Magenta (PV19).

Transparency and opacity :

In the field of art, natural or synthetic pigments are used, each of which provides a pure color. Each pigment is unique and particular. It returns a precise color and it has more or less strength, intensity, and above all a transparency or an opacity inherent in its nature.

Thus each color has a different covering power. Some colors are totally opaque, while other colors are more transparent. It is therefore not a question of weakness or of different levels of quality, but of the unchangeable nature of the pigments, with which the artist must learn to compose.

The transparency of certain colors brings advantages, thanks to the work in several superimposed layers. It is always possible to opacify colors by mixing with opaque paints.

Polyurethane, what does it mean ?

It is a family of resin which allows polymerization of these cells, that is to say a very high hardening reaction and superior to the hardening obtained by air drying, when a hardener or catalyst is added.
Our paints can perfectly be used without hardener, and therefore dry thanks to the air, like classic paints. The use of the hardener can be useful in certain cases.

Recovery :

Water-based acrylic paints can adhere to each other, without sanding, for a fairly long time, which ranges from 1 to 3 days depending on the temperature.

When applying the paints on an already painted and dry background, then it is important to prepare the surface by lightly sanding, degreasing and also dusting. When you do not take care of the recommendations concerning adhesion, you can get detachments over time or during adhesive masking operations.

Stardust pro airbrush paints can be overcoated with many clearcoats and solvent-based paints.
